When Men’s Mental Health Is Ignored, Everyone Pays the Price
By Helene Waters — First published December 26, 2025 by Cheese & Jam
As a woman who has witnessed, up close, the devastating impact of unaddressed mental health in men—and the alarming lack of support available to them—I created this platform to start a conversation many still avoid.
This blog is not about diminishing what women experience. Women’s pain, trauma, and abuse are real and deserve unwavering recognition. However, it is imperative to acknowledge an uncomfortable truth: many women find themselves in abusive or emotionally unsafe relationships because the men they are with have never been supported, taught, or allowed to address their own mental health.
Mental health does not exist in isolation. The emotional wellbeing of men and women is deeply interconnected. When one side of this equation is ignored, the other escalates—often into cycles of trauma, abuse, addiction, emotional withdrawal, and generational harm.
This blog exists to explore that intersection honestly.
Here, I will cover a wide range of topics surrounding men’s mental health—its denial, its consequences, and its ripple effects on relationships, families, workplaces, and society as a whole. I do not claim to hold a medical degree.
What I offer instead is something equally vital:
fact-based research, lived experience, and the voices of men who have trusted me with their stories.
These are the conversations men are rarely allowed to have out loud.
This space exists so they no longer have to suffer in silence.
